Construction Project Supervisor

Objective:
Oversee all new projects that will be under construction.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of project plans and implementation
  • Assist with design of new projects from initial rough drawings to finalized drawings, project specifications, request of bid from contractor, review bids for accuracy and completeness.
  • Occasionally design project layout and acquire needed materials to complete specified project
  • Job site inspections to ensure project specifications are being followed and Pipestone quality standards are being met.
  • Ensure that all projects for which they are responsible are carried out efficiently
  • Monitors construction, schedule, and quality control
  • Provide guidance and technical support to resolve construction problems
  • Support design engineering phase of projects
  • Support negotiations with clients and suppliers
  • Weekly reporting to the Asset management team and additional team members as determined.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities within the Repairs & Maintenance department in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • BS Degree with an agricultural or construction management focus preferred.
  • 3 – 4 years of construction/maintenance experience or post-secondary education/training in these fields may be substituted for BS degree, preferred.

Work Environment

  • Agricultural swine environment in rural area
  • Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
  • Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
  • Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds
  • Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to work
  • Some travel required
